Huichol
Huichol
The Huichol Indians of the
Sierra Madre Mountains in Northern Mexico have preserved the purest form
of pre-columbian culture in our hemisphere. Known as "The healers of the
earth and nature", the Huichols teach us that man must be the stewards
of the earth. He must feel, in his heart, the pain of the wounded animal
or the crushed blade of grass beneath our feet. For all souls are linked.
The universal life force, Kupuri, flows through all of natures creations.
When man destroys nature, he destroys the finest part of his own being.
We should all thank the Huichols for their steadfast and difficult work.
As with the prayers of the cloistered, these beautiful people have kept
vigil on and for earth, life and love. May the force be with us all and
all be with the force...
Debra and I made this altar
from recycled wood, metal and yucca cactus spikes from Rancho No Tengo.
It is of a piece of Huichol art that depicts the path of Huichol Shamans
to completion.
