Wavo is a term a lot of people applied to our music.
We were playing Tex- Mex with a New Wave twist, so it
was called Nuevo Wavo for short. We recorded Nuevo
Wavo, our first major release, in the Summer of 1980,
in New York with Billy Altman producing, before heading
out to Europe on the Sons of Stiff tour for Stiff records
of England. The second part beginning with Bad
Rap consisted of music we recorded nine months later.
You can kind of see that Europe had an effect on the music,
I mean how could it not. Buena was one of the first
shown video's on MTV and even broke the top 10 in Monaco
which for me is a crowning achievement. We
also performed Don't Bug me Baby on Saturday Night
Live. If you like roller rink Vox organ you will
